FIRST WEEK...HURRAH..!!!
“AWESOME”, I screamed as Higuain scored his third goal and Argentina neatly wrapped up its second group-B match against South Korea displaying excellent passing skills, defense and control over the ball. Maradona runs on to the pitch as the roaring fans celebrate. It’s been seven days into the world cup and these days have been absolutely fantastic. Watching the matches and discussing the ‘oh yeah they could have this and that’ is absolutely thrilling and its one of the endearing characteristics of sports.
Ok, now coming to the first round, some teams had a fantastic outing like Germany which totally steam-rolled Australia for a 4-0 victory or Argentina with today’s match. Brazil was made to sweat it out against North Korea but like all champions Brazil wriggled out the Korean defense with Maicon leading the way. But Portugal, England, France and Italy could manage only a draw. England’s chances where ruined when their goal keeper failed to stop the goal though Gerrard did score early on. Portugal was held to a draw by Ivory Coast, whose hero Drogba entered the field in the 67th minute to the roaring applause by the audience. The most disappointing outcome was Spain’s loss to Switzerland. Inspite of being in control of the ball,Spain failed to score as Switzerland romped home with its first ever victory over Spain. Now the second set of matches, have just begun…
Sports, always teases one’s heart with victories and defeats. It sometimes makes one enthusiastic and one bounces up and down with his/ her team. But at times it leaves one sad and disappointed. I was totally devastated when Fedrer lost to Nadal in Wimbledon 08. His defeat against Del Potro in US Open left me reeling under shock. I rather not speak about India’s fantastic outing in the last two T20 world cups. But on the whole sports serves as a catalyst in uniting millions of hearts across the world (sadly there have been a few wars in the past too). It teaches us to fight for victories, find a way out of the tough situations of life, to be down to earth always and last but not the least to face defeats with courage and a SMILE ON OUR LIPS……
ps:if there are any technical errors pardon me guys...
